Description
Hyaluronic Acid occurs naturally in the dermis, the layer of skin immediately under the surface. In newborns, it is quite plentiful, but gradually diminishes as we age. In fact, decreasing Hyaluronic Acid correlates closely with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It makes sense, then, that by replenishing Hyaluronic Acid, dry skin is revitalized and refreshed, taking on more youthful appearance.
Our HA is synthesized within our own laboratories. Hyaluronic Super Serum also has among the lowest trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) values, as the HA holds moisture escaping through the skin at the surface.
When applied topically, it attracts moisture in skin cells. This reduces dryness and flaking by increasing skin hydration. Compared to high molecular weight HA, sodium hyaluronate can provide a greater hydrating effect. This is due to its low molecular weight. Promotes decreased wrinkle depth and improved elasticity. Low molecular weight HA promotes the production of beta-defensin 2 (DEFβ2,) a compound that promotes tissue healing. It also controls the activity of inflammatory cells.
Our Hyaluronic Super Serum also contains the following:
Aspalathus Linearis Leaf Extract (Red Tea) – slows down the aging process, and leaves strengthen the skin’s outer layer. It evens pigmentation reduces sunspots and blotchiness. In addition, Aspalathus Linearis Leaf extract stimulates skin tissue regeneration, soothes and calms irritated skin. ‘Tea polyphenols (compounds found naturally in tea) contain strong antioxidant properties, meaning they help to protect against free radical pollution damage. ‘Anti-hyaluronidase’ means that tea will preserve the hyaluronic acid more, in addition to its anti-inflammatory properties.’ Skin translation: more hyaluronic acid means a plumper-looking complexion. Red Tea is a source of Vitamin D and Zinc and has been shown to be protective. Finally, rooibos, because of its soothing properties, is known to not cause reactions on the skin. Rich in the flavonoid aspalathin, red tea shows excellent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and soothing properties. Clinical studies have demonstrated that red tea is beneficial for irritated and blemished skin.
Phenoxyethanol – A vegan and gluten free preservative
Ethylhexylglycerin – A skin softening agent that offers multiple benefits for skin care. It acts as a humectant and hydrates skin deeply without leaving the skin heavy or sticky.
